Oral Peripheral Exam

An assessment tool designed by Chelsea Bennett — fun, fast, and effective.

What it is

The Oral Peripheral Exam is a clinical assessment tool for speech-language pathologists working with children. It includes 11 high-quality photographs of children and animals performing oral-motor tasks — kids find the pictures hilarious and naturally mimic them, which means the clinician gets a clean assessment without fighting for cooperation.

The package includes a clinician protocol that maps each photo to specific oral-structure observations: orofacial cleft, missing teeth, tongue mobility, lip mobility, velar closure, ankyloglossia, and more.

Designed for ages 3–12 (works for older clients too). Useful for a wide range of disorders — articulation, voice, fluency, stuttering, cluttering, expressive/receptive language, and hearing-impaired clients.

Who it's for

Speech-language pathologists, school clinicians, and anyone administering oral-peripheral examinations to children. Especially valuable when working with kids who typically resist mouth examinations — the photos turn the exam into a game.
